A small informative post for today that lets you know (in case you don’t already know), how to remove and show the “Safely Remove Hardware” icon from Taskbar.

Hiding or removing the icon is not that difficult and if you want to clear your task bar of the green icon then following are the steps:
Steps:
1. Right click on the Task Bar and select properties.
2. Now click on the Customize button and in case if it is greyed out then check the box “Hide Inactive Icons”
3. In the list of the Current Items, change the behavior of “safely Remove Hardware” from Hide when Inactive to Always Hide.
4. This is it; the icon will not appear again.
Reverse process will make the icon to appear again.

System Tray Icon Missing from System Tray in Windows

This was the problem faced by one of our readers that when he booted the PC, the system tray icons were missing from the system tray, also known as notification area. Along with this, the Hide Inactive Icons button was also disabled or greyed out.

It is because of this the icons including the pen drive icon don’t load up.
Cause of the problem:
•    The cause is solely because of the inability of the Windows to load up all the icons properly.
Solutions:
There are few solutions available to fix the problem.
Solution 1:
1.    Download and install Microsoft’s power toy called Tweak UI.
2.    Now go to Taskbar and Start Menu option.

3.    Check the option of Show Taskbar notification icons.
4.    Click OK and restart.
Solution 2:
1.    If the above utility doest work you can download a file, extract it and run the batch file.
2.    This will restart the explorer for you and will also fix the problem.
Solution 3:
1.    Open the registry editor by typing regedit in the Run box.
2.    Type services.msc to open the services list.
3.    Right click on the SSDP Discovery Service and click properties.
4.    On the General tab, in the Startup type drop-down list, click Disabled.
5.    Click OK, restart may be required.

Solution to No Desktop, Taskbar and Icons at Startup Problem

We must have seen this problem some or the other day that when we boot our computer our desktop, taskbar and wallpaper do not appear.
This was the problem of one of our readers and here is the solution of the problem with detailed information of the cause.
This is the case of the Explorer startup problem and is caused sue to the unconditional termination of F-Nimda tool during its operation. If F-Nimda tool is terminated by a user or operating system while it is scanning a hard disk, there will be no icons and no taskbar on Windows desktop.
Solution:
1.    Just download a zip file from HERE and unzip it.
2.    Double click the reg file named “SHELLFIX.REG” and click OK to import it in the registry settings.
Reboot may be required and this would have solved the problem.

Solution to remove Blue Color Shadow from the Desktop Icons

Our computer looks fresh and good with our desktop icons. We all must have placed some or other icons on our desktop and thus it has become a common problem that we often see either Blue or a different Color Shadow under the icons placed at our desktop.
So if you are also facing this problem and doesn’t actually know how to fix this problem then here is the solution.

Solution:
1.    This problem is only caused when we have selected the option of “Lock Web Items on Desktop”. To turn it off, right click on the desktop and go to “Arrange Icons By” and uncheck the option of “Lock Web Items on Desktop”.

2.    This option should have solved your problem but if you just like to change the blue color and not turn it off, then right click on desktop.
3.    Click on Properties -> Appearance -> Advanced button. Now select “Desktop” from the Item drop down list and choose the desired color in the “color1” option.
Update:
One of our readers ersin, found a working solution which is
  • Go to Display Properties -> Desktop tab -> Customize Desktop -> Web tab
  • Make sure that you have both the web pages listed below and the option Lock Desktop Items Unchecked.
  • OK and exit.
